Dexter’s Story: A Tough Bone to Swallow:

April 23rd 2025 - Meet Dexter - A playful, loving 8 -year-old Bull Terrier who recently found himself in trouble after not fully chewing his regularly given treat.

At first, Dexter seemed okay. He vomited some pieces up and kept on playing like his usual self. But within days, he couldn’t hold down solid food and started showing signs of pain — lip licking, drooling, and tensing in his neck.

A visit to the vet revealed a suspected bone lodged deep in his esophagus — something that could lead to life-threatening complications like tissue damage or infection.

The team knew he needed an urgent endoscopy to find and remove the bone. But the procedure comes with a high cost.

Thanks to the Karissa Wilson Fund, which helps pets like Dexter get the emergency care they need, and support from his amazing family, we were able to move forward. Doctor Henderson was not in the hospital that day but swiftly made her way to the clinic to perform this emergency procedure for Dexter and his Family.

During recovery, Dexter was continuously wagging his tail and quickly returned back to his normal self.

Dexter’s family kindly agreed to share his story to help raise awareness and support for the Karissa Wilson fund, which helps animals like Dexter get a second chance.
