Dr. Eric Buist

Education: Western College of Veterinary Medicine

Eric was born in Alberta and grew up on a small mixed dairy and beef farm. After attending universities in both Edmonton and Vancouver, he completed his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. His first job was with a mixed animal practice in Wetaskiwin, Alberta where he began to develop his interest and experience in small animal orthopedics.

In 1997, Eric and his family moved to Williams Lake, BC, where he became a partner in the Williams Lake Veterinary Hospital. Here he had the opportunity to further his interest in orthopedics and also began to pursue education in small animal ultrasound. After moving to Kamloops in 2004, he began working at Riverside Small Animal Hospital, and became partner in 2007.

His practice interests include diagnostic imaging modalities including ultrasound and digital X-rays, with advancements in telemedicine and the potential for the incorporation of such technologies as MRI. He also still has a strong interest in orthopedic surgeries such as TPLO surgery, and hopes to learn and incorporate new and advanced orthopedic techniques.

You may see Eric’s border collie Badger here at the clinic regularly, begging for pets and sniffing for treats.
